Patient Care Services
Our Patient Care staff takes care of patients requiring medical, surgical, outpatient and swing bed or skilled care services. Saunders Medical Center wants you to Be Well.
Acute Care
Acute Care patients receives active but short-term treatment for severe injuries or episodes of illness, an urgent medical condition, or during recovery from surgery.
Swing Bed Services
When patients do not need additional acute hospitalization but do require further skilled levels of service, they qualify for "swing" care. Under the direction of the patient's physician, nursing care is provided as well as rehabilitation services, physical/occupational/speech therapies and other skilled services as indicated.
What if a patient becomes acute again?
He or she will be discharged (in the paperwork only) as a skilled care patient and re-admitted as an acute care patient. You will not leave the hospital when discharged and typically there is no change of rooms.
Private Pay
We are able to offer an intermediate, private pay level of care on a very limited basis (up to three days), when approved by administration. This allows the patient and family time to make needed arrangements when a patient does not qualify for an admission or needs a longer stay. At this level of care, the patient is responsible for charges.
